  • The Montreal Convention: the cornerstone of international air carrier liability

    International air transport has a complex legal framework in which the Montreal Convention plays a fundamental role. Adopted on 28 May 1999 and brought into force in 2003, this convention is now the reference text governing the liability of international air carriers. It provides a balanced system of protection between the interests of passengers and those of airlines. Our firm regularly observes that passengers are still unaware of the rights granted by this major text, which sometimes leaves them without adequate compensation.
