Choosing the right domiciliation will determine the credibility and operation of your business. Each option meets different needs. Whether you are a sole trader or a company, you need to assess your priorities before deciding. The domiciliation options available There are three main ways of domiciling a business. Domiciliation at the personal address The entrepreneur or manager sets up the registered office at his or her personal address. This option is suitable for businesses with no staff or customers. Article L. 123-10 of the French Commercial Code authorises this under certain conditions. Advantages: No cost Administrative simplicity No travel Disadvantages: Confusion between private and business life Possible restrictions (lease, co-ownership) Less professional image Potential time limit for companies The law distinguishes between two cases for legal entities: with no contractual restrictions, domiciliation is possible for an unlimited period of time.
